Ingredients:
- 1 (19.76 oz) pkg. hot Italian sausage links
- 1/2 cup diced ripe mango
- 2 tsp. fresh grapefruit juice
- 1 tsp. grapefruit zest
- 12 thin slices of Hass Avocado (peeled, and seeded)
- 2 Tbsp. fresh grapefruit juice
- 2 Tbsp. pure olive oil
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise with olive oil
- 12 mini burger buns or sweet soft dinner rolls
- 1 bunch watercress, large stems discarded
- 12 thin sweet onion slices
Instructions:
- Preheat a gas grill to medium-high heat. Combine mayonnaise, mango, 2 tsp. grapefruit juice, grapefruit zest in a food processor and process until smooth. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use. Evenly drizzle slices of avocado with remaining 2 Tbsp. fresh grapefruit juice and brush lightly. Cook sausage to recommendations on the packaging. Brush the onions with the olive oil to keep from sticking on the grill and grill. Once grilling is complete, cut the sausage into thin slices and assemble sliders as shown with the mayonnaise mixture spread on either side of the buns.
*Large avocados are recommended for this recipe. A large avocado averages
about 8 ounces. If using smaller or larger size avocados adjust the quantity
accordingly.
