Description:
2011 Kick Off with Hass Avocados Recipe Contest – Finalist
Recipe Courtesy of John V. from Florida, who says "SMOOTH AND TASTY WITH A KICK"

This recipe was submitted by a Hass Avocado fan and has not been tested by the Hass Avocado Board.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tsp. salt or for a better taste use 2 Tbsp. of capers instead of salt. I prefer capers.
  • 2 Tbsp. Tahini paste
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2 (15.5 ounce) cans of garbanzo beans 1 can drained + 1 can of Cannellini beans drained
  • 1/2 cup of light olive oil
  • 1 Hass Avocado
  • 3/4 cup of fresh cilantro or basil which ever to taste
  • 1/8 tsp. paprika or to taste

(optional) If you want to spice it up a little
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper or 1/2 tsp. ground red chipotle pepper

  • The chipotle really gives it a great taste!

Instructions:

  1. Place all in ingredients in a food processor blend till smooth. If it is NOT real smooth add water a little at a time till desired consistency
Serving Suggestions:
ENJOY WITH A NICE COLD BEER AND CHIPS
*Large avocados are recommended for this recipe. A large avocado averages about 8 ounces. If using smaller or larger size avocados adjust the quantity accordingly.
